Why do I put up a Christmas tree?
My love for trees is no secret. They are wise beings connected to the earth, the atmosphere, and one another in ways we are just beginning to understand. Scientists have shown that if one tree is failing health wise, nearby trees send nutrients through the root system to boost its energy.
The trees in my yard have always been generous in sharing their knowledge and energy with me. They are true friends in every sense. So, for me, it’s natural to decorate my home at this time of year with replicas of beings I love and honor.
My hubby and I love the lights on our trees and our home, and tend to keep them lit well into February (sometimes longer). In the darkest weeks of the year, these twinkling bulbs lift our spirits and create a lightness within us. Something that feels like joy.
In the evening, when we pull into our driveway and see the lights on our trees shining through the windows, it reminds us a joyful heart is a choice. In the darkest of nights, we are the ones who must remember to turn on the lights.
Merry Christmas!
