Can’t sleep? Try this.
Have you ever had a night where sleep seems impossible? You toss and turn, and can’t get comfortable. Then you start thinking…and thinking…and soon you’re tossing some more. Ugh.
I’ve had nights like this. I bet you have, too. Here’s a simple little technique I use to relax and put me back to sleep.
I breathe.
That’s right. Breathe.
I take a deep breath, as deep as I can so my belly rises. As I inhale, I slowly count to four. On my exhale, I count to seven—slowly.
In through the nose, one, two, three, four. Out through the mouth, one, two, three, four, five, six, seven.
Repeat over and over. If you start to think, let the thoughts float away and bring your mind back to your breathing.
