Are you ready to relieve the anxiety of uncertainty?

I can’t count the number of times I’ve seen or heard the phrase “uncertain times” this past week. It’s in nearly every television commercial, newspaper, and newscast. This is interesting to me because I’m pretty sure life always carries within it a degree of uncertainty, and that was true even before the virus. It’s the uncertainty of life that keeps things interesting, or we’d all be bored, bored, bored. 

So I’m going to encourage you to stay aware of worldly events and use common sense (like handwashing, etc), but try not to let yourself emotionally sink into the drama often created by repetitive key phrases and visual programming. Consciously choose the thoughts and feelings that feel good to you, because your thoughts and feelings are the building blocks that form your idea of reality. Even telling yourself something like this too shall pass, can be a great comfort.
 

If you do find yourself feeling anxious or a little scared, here’s a helpful energy technique designed to soothe your body, calm your mind, and reduce fear

  1. Find the area on the back of your hand, halfway between your wrist and fingers, and between your ring finger and pinkie finger (an acupressure point).
     

  2. Tap this area using 2 or 3 fingers for 30-60 seconds, while taking deep breaths in through your nose and out through your mouth.
     

  3. Switch hands, and repeat.
     

  4. Continue until you feel better.

This technique is a powerful anxiety reliever for everyone including children, your co-worker, your neighbor, and all the talking dogs I’ve seen on FB lately. 😀
