Did you know most stress is caused by expectation?

Last week we explored the importance of just letting go. When things seem too hard, or there seems to be too many roadblocks, sometimes the best thing we can do is give up expecting something to happen the way we think it should.

Why is this important?

When we give up thinking how something has to be, it opens up all the possibilities for how something can be that is often even better than we could’ve imagined. We truly let go and KNOW life is happening FOR us and because of us.

Why do we try so hard to make something happen?

Because we aren’t enjoying where we are in the moment. We make the future more important than today because we think that’s where we’ll be happy. (We do that with the past as well.) And we think the future isn’t happening fast enough! We’re miserable in the present moment because the million dollars or whatever we want so badly isn’t here right now.

Often, we forget how creative we are. We forget that we are co-creators with God Source that says YES to everything we think and feel. God works through us, never without us. This awesome force that creates everything and IS everything is ever present, ever listening 24/7. It never takes a break from co-creating what we’re thinking.

So how does God Source work?

Imagine you’re seated in a restaurant with a friend. You’re starving and can’t wait to eat so you order a pizza the second the waiter comes with water and menus. You can’t wait, you say, just hurry, bring my food.

Five minutes later and no food. You call the waiter over. I can’t wait. I’m too hungry. Just bring me a milkshake and piece of pie to get me started.

One minute goes by, no milkshake and no pie and you can’t wait. You run back to the kitchen and shove the chef aside. You scramble up some eggs and devour them with a full glass of orange juice.

When you get back to the table and your friend, you feel better, but here comes the pizza, the milkshake, the pie. Ugh. You’re so full you can’t even look at it.

But what would’ve happened if you would’ve just sipped your water, had a nice chat with your friend and waited a bit, certain your food was on the way? No need to take over the kitchen. Not your job.

That’s what we do when we ask for a million dollars, decide it’s taking too long, settle for a thousand dollars, not coming, oh no, what now, how can I make this happen, I’ve got to make this happen…

And we do that with almost everything: jobs, life partners, material goods.

We put what we want out to the universe and decide it’s taking too long or not coming about in the exact way we want it. Or we worry it’s not coming at all. These are all conflicting thoughts/feelings creating conflicting results.

We don’t consider that there might be an even better way to get what we’re after. We want to micro-manage everything. How about if we just know what we want, let go and trust that we’ll experience the best results for us as we can handle it.

Ninety percent of our stress is expectation. Don’t expect the future to be a certain way, and so much of the stress we’re holding will go away. Now we’re not resisting our good, because we’re not in resistance to anything.

Relax. Let go. Try not to make the future more important than today and it will take care of itself, often in ways better than we imagined.

And as always, I’m available for private sessions if you need deeper understanding, support, or guidance in the form of energy work or intuitive life coaching.
