10 simple methods to ground yourself
Today I’m thinking about the correlation between the way a person feels and how grounded they are. When I say “grounded,” I’m talking about the way you feel in your body.
When you’re connected to your body, you’re listening to it and taking whatever steps you’re prompted to take—go for a walk, eat an orange, take a nap, etc.
When you’re not connected, you tend to ignore what the body tells you and maybe push harder when the body says rest, or drink soda when the body says water.
I’ve see people walk with their heads way out in front of their bodies. This is a person who is not grounded. They are in their heads thinking, thinking, thinking. And we know what we think repeatedly becomes a belief, which becomes our perception of reality.
Grounding is important to feel safe, secure, rested, joyful, present, sane.
Here’s a few simple, yet powerful ways to ground yourself when you feel out of sorts, anxious, spacey, irritable, not you:
Close your eyes and inhale deeply into your solar plexus (belly) calling all your energy back to you, then exhale anything in your energy field that’s no longer serving you. Do this three times. You’ll feel much calmer and lighter, as if a weight has been lifted from your shoulders. Click here to view my free video on How to Take Back Your Energy if you want a visual.
Call your name out loud three times. This calls your energy back through intention.
Lie down on your lawn and relax into the grass. If it’s winter, make a snow angel. The Earth is a wonderful energy booster.
Hug a tree, or sit with your back next to a tree.
Pet an animal. I used to comb out our cows when I was stressed. Such great nurturing energy.
Watch a sunset
Bounce on the balls of your feet
Drink water
Eat a piece of dark chocolate (or a handful of potato chips)
Pot a plant
All these methods work and will help you feel centered and safe in your body. But if you need a little more help getting grounded, book an energy session with me.
Love and light, Beautiful Being!
